I have published artist books since 1985 as the Moonkosh Press. Moonkosh is the phonetic spelling of the city in Hungary from which my grandfather, Joseph Klein, emigrated. He came to the United States in the early part of the 20th century, had very little formal education, but was a magnificent story teller. When my sisters and I were growing up, the kids in our neighborhood would ask, "When is your grandpa coming again?" They wanted to hear his stories. Some of those stories began, "Back in Moonkosh..." So, in honor of him, and his form of oral literature, "Moonkosh" is the imprint under which these books come into being.
